Margaret "Maggie" Anne Meyers was born to Diane Demartini Meyers and Edward Meyers on April 26, 1990. She grew up in Ridgewood, NJ, along with four older siblings. She played every sport she could get her hands on, but her biggest passion was lacrosse.
After graduating from Immaculate Heart Academy, Maggie went on to pursue a BSN at the University of Pennsylvania. She worked for a few years as a nurse in the pediatric cardiac intensive care units at both Children's National Medical Center (DC), and NYU Langone Medical Center.
She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Nurse Anesthesia from Georgetown University. Maggie is also an avid Yankees fan, a committed runner, and a dedicated dog mom to their fur baby, Roo.
Robert "Bobby" Lee Blake, Jr. was born to Stavroula Pimenidis Blake and Robert Lee Blake, Sr., on March 14, 1989. After spending the early years of his childhood in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, the family relocated to Madison, Mississippi when Bobby was 5. Bobby grew up playing many sports, with a special love for baseball.
Following graduation from St. Joseph Catholic School, Bobby attended Mississippi State University, graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Sports Management.
After a few years of working in minor league baseball and then the NFL, Bobby returned to school to follow a dream. He is currently pursuing his degree in Turf Management at the University of Maryland and intends to work as either a sports turf manager or a golf course superintendent. He is an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Mississippi State Bulldogs, New York Knickerbockers, and the New Orleans Saints.
Bobby and Maggie met in the spring of 2014 in Washington, DC. They first began talking when Maggie asked how a guy from Mississippi could be a Yankees fan. The spark was strong from the beginning, but neither knew what would become of the friendship once Maggie moved to NYC at the beginning of the summer.
As fate would have it, Bobby traveled to his family's beach club in Sea Bright, NJ quite frequently. Maggie made day trips down the shore when Bobby would visit, and over the course of many beach days, FaceTime dates, and phone calls, the two decided to make something work long-distance.
After making things official that summer, Maggie and Bobby filled their weekends with travel back and forth between DC and the East Village, NYC. In February, Maggie was accepted to the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Georgetown--the pair knew they would be reunited in Washington that August!
How Bobby Proposed
It was a hot August day. Maggie was finishing up her research month and had spent the prior week at her parents home in Ridgewood. The plan for the day was for Maggie to meet Bobby at the beach for a relaxing day with their friends at Edgewater Beach Club.
When Maggie arrived at Bobby's aunt's house, Bobby was waiting for her in the driveway. He told her that there was a shark that had washed up on shore, and he wanted her to see it. They walked onto the beach, the former site of Tradewinds Beach Club, where Bobby's parents first met.
As they walked, Bobby told stories of his memories on this beach. When Maggie turned back to look at him, he had gotten down on one knee! Afterwards, the couple was greeted by many friends and family members at the beach club to spend the day celebrating.
